The city of Marseille has made the improvement of public space and the renaturation of green spaces one of its priorities.
Thus, the city councils of the 4&5 have committed themselves to projects of renaturation and desoiling of their public spaces and parks and gardens. With the support of the Nature For City LIFE project, citizen mobilization workshops have been organized in the Grand Bonneveine park, the Stefan square and the Maurel garden.
In addition, the 6&8 City Hall is organizing a festival called "La Voie est Belle" (The Way is Beautiful), which invites residents to participate in a transition process towards greener and more sustainable neighborhoods.
This festival aims to rethink the uses of public space, squares, streets and gardens for a better quality and cooler public space in the summer by promoting consultation for the renovation of parks and gardens, by debating, inventing and changing the uses of public space. Conferences and round tables will be held on mobility and street greening, notably through the little-known "green visa" system that allows people to grow plants on the public domain.
This event will be held from March 30 to April 2, in the Bonneveine district, then from April 27 to 30 in the Vauban district. During four days, many activities will be organized for residents of all ages. Learning how to ride a bike or repairing a bike, urban plant observation sessions, gardening, all in a festive spirit te change realized by the Region SUD within the framework of the project Nature for City LIFE will be presented at the Bonnefon center on Wednesday, March 30th from 10am to 12pm and from 2pm to 5pm and from April 25th to May at Vauban.
