Directly in line with its Climate Plan, its proactive policy on climate change and its 100% green budget, the Region has adopted an ambitious local development strategy, "L'Europe et la Région se lèvent pour le climat", which is reflected in the organization of the "Les Etoiles de l'Europe en Région Sud" competition. The selected projects concern research and the environment in the face of climatic and environmental challenges, adaptation to climate change, natural risk prevention, the transition to a circular and resource-efficient economy, and the protection and conservation of biodiversity.
The jury included representatives of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Region, members of the European Commission Representation in Marseille, representatives of institutional partners (CESER, Secrétariat Général des Affaires Européennes, Régions de France), and qualified experts (Agence Régionale pour la Biodiversité et l'Environnement de Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, ADEME) on the competition themes. It met on February 8 to select the 9 projects that represent the diversity of the region and are working towards a greener, more sustainable future. In the "Promoting adaptation to climate change, natural disaster risk prevention and resilience, taking ecosystem approaches into account" category, the Nature for city Life project won the award.
